How it works
VSEND assesses a child or young person's needs in five areas. They are:
- communication and interaction
- cognition and learning
- social, emotional and mental health
- sensory and physical
- independence
VSEND also assesses how ready the educational setting and the home environment are to meet these needs.
Once the assessment is complete, you will get a radar chart, showing where need is met, and where more support is required. Using the tool at key review points allows changes in need over time to be tracked.
