The Governance Support, Training and Development Offer 2024- 2025 has been further updated and includes a new training session on Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as well as previously offered sessions encompassing the core functions which promote effective governance.

The Local Authority is committed to giving governors and trustees the opportunity to access quality training opportunities via virtual online training sessions which are free, unless otherwise stated. The Local Authority continues to purchase the NGA Learning Link platform for school settings in Lincolnshire, to give governors/trustees the opportunity to access training materials online.

We are also responsible for maintaining records of Maintained Schools' Governing Bodies, as well as providing direct communications that are pertinent to supporting the continued development of governance in Lincolnshire Schools.

  • NGA Safeguarding Training Governor Induction - (via NGA Learning Links) – to understand safeguarding from a governance perspective
  • Governor Induction (Maintained Schools) - to understand your role as a governor
  • Strategy: Living your values, reaching your vision, managing the risk - (via NGA Learning Links) – linking to the first core governance function
  • Budget Management and Monitoring - to understand school finance basic concepts, budget monitoring and roles and responsibilities
  • Financial Planning/MTFP - to understand financial planning and budget preparation with a demonstration of the medium-term finance plan
  • Effective Governor Monitoring - to understand the monitoring role across governance

Governance Partnership Briefings

To support all Governing Boards, Lincolnshire County Council delivers Governor Partnership meetings in the autumn, spring and summer terms.

These provide key strategic summaries, so Governors and Trustees are kept up-to-date. Governance Professionals and Clerks are welcome to attend these sessions.

Topics often include standards, updates on national and regional agenda, Lincolnshire Education Group updates, OFSTED inspection information, accessing support and provision within the county and much more.

All briefings are virtual - held in the afternoon at 2:00pm and repeated again in the evening at 7:00pm. There is no need to attend both sessions.
